Playing in the sprinkler, ice cream at Tyrone Mills, and a picnic at the park. What a great way to celebrate Canada’s 147th birthday.

Every year the boys get their teachers an end of year thank you gift. This year we decide to make the gifts so that they could have personal touch and inexpensive as I couldn’t afford to spend a lot on each when we needed 9 gifts. So thanks to Pinterest we decided to make personalized coffee mugs. On Pinterest they said to make it using Sharpies but after trying a few different methods of baking the mugs I found that the Sharpies didn’t stay on very well and the colors faded. So I decided to get actual Porcelain 150 paint markers. They worked wonderfully.
So this year every time someone asked Aly what she wanted for her birthday she gave them the same answer. In a very serious tone she would announce each time that she wanted “cupcakes”. So Auntie Chantelle decided that she should have exactly what she wanted, she got Aly all the ingredients needed to make cupcakes. So the day after Aly’s birthday party we all made cupcakes.
This year Aly wanted a princess party so mommy added a few princess touches and everyone had a great time.
So much fun. Aly has already started talking about NEXT year.
Recently Cam and Nate took a dance class at the community center. On the last day of class they allowed the parents to watch for a bit and did a little dance for us. This is the dance.
Well I they definitely aren’t going to be winning dancing with the stars but hey they had a good time and that’s all mommy was hoping for. 🙂
Thanks to the day light savings time change, having 3 kids and the general business of Sundays today escaped me and as I am climbing into bed tonight I realize that I didn’t do 1 very important thing today. I am thankful for my mom. Life may not have always been perfect growing u (who’s is) but no matter what I always knew that I had someone who loved me (and my brother) and would got to the ends of the earth and back for me and for that I am thankful. Thank you mom and I love you and want to wish you a happy birthday. I hope you had a great day.
Approx 9 small potatoes cubed
3 boneless skinless chicken breasts cubed
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tbs salt
1 tbs pepper
1 1/2 tbs paprika
3 tbs minced garlic (I buy it in the jar pre-minced)
3 heads broccoli
Approx 200g cheddar cheese
Green onions
Salsa
Sour cream
Preheat oven to 500F. (Yes this sounds high but it’s right.)
Mix potatoes, oil, salt, pepper, paprika and garlic in a bowl. Transfer the potatoes to an un-greased casserole dish, save remaining oil. Bake for 45-50 until poatoes are cooked mixing every 10-15 minutes.
Marinade chicken in remaining oil mixture.
When potatoes are cooked reduce temp to 400F. Add broccoli to chicken and mix then add broccoli and chicken mixture to potatoes. Return to oven and bake for 15 minutes or until chicken is fully cooked. Top with grated cheese and green onions. Serve with salsa and sour cream or ranch dressing or ketchup (what ever you like).
Yesterday on the walk home from school it looked like it was going to rain so Nate decided to make a song up that would keep the rain away. This is his song.
It worked so well that the rain didn’t start until after Daddy got home from work. 🙂
