Recently I have been thinking a lot about all of the things tat happen in our lives daily that we are thankful for. Many of these things are easily seen, our health, family, friends… But everyday there are hundreds of things to be thankful for. Some are big yes but many in fact I dare say most are small and often over looked but still very important. Here in Ontario today is Thanksgiving. I have to decide to challenge myself. I am challenging myself to see the good, to see the things that I am and should be thankful for. I am trying to live a year of thankfulness. I will post (or try) daily at least one thing that I am thankful for (and I will try to not repeat myself). I would like to challenge others to join me. Share with others if you would like or just write it down in notebook for yourself. The idea isn’t so much to share it with the world but to see what the world gives to us all. So I will start here with my first day. I am thankful for what wasn’t. A little back story, on Saturday the kids were playing with sticks and pretending to sword fight and swinging them around when Nate was hit in the eye by Aly . He started bleeding from the eye so Rob rushed him off to the hospital (I am also thankful we have the medical care available). It turns out that the stick only scratched the white of the eye and didn’t puncture it or get the cornea so there is no damage to his eye site and no permanent damage to his eye. He was given antibiotic drops to help prevent infection and 48 hours later there is no sign of infection. So as I said I am thankful for what wasn’t, he wasn’t blinded, he wasn’t in need of eye surgery and he wasn’t unfortunate enough to get an infection. Some times we can be just as thankful for what isn’t as what is.
Please consider challenging yourself to live thankful for a year. Happy Thanksgiving!
