Thank you. # 221

I am so thankful for how far things have come.

Six years ago today Nate was very sick. Six years ago he became septic and was rushed to the O.R. for emergency surgery. Six years ago today Nate almost died. I look back at the comments I made that day six years ago and I can’t believe how close we came to losing him and how thankful I am that we didn’t.

Day 17 began with a visit from the residents doctor team followed by an ultrasound. Now we are waiting to see the surgeon to discuss what the ultrasound showed.

Nathanial isn’t doing great. He is in pain and retaining a lot of fluid. He has been moved back into the constant observation room so that they can keep a closer eye on him.

Nathanial has taken a turn towards worse and is being prepped to go back into the O.R.. They think that the area where the bowel was joined has started leaking. He is currently feeling very sick and very sore.

Nathanial is in the O.R. right now we are just awaiting word on how bad things are and how he is doing.

Nathanial is out of the OR and seems to be doing well. They found a small hole in his bowel that was leaking fluid into his abdomen. He will be spending the next few nights in the continuous observation room.

I am so thankful for the doctors and nurses who saved him. I thank God for protecting him. I thank Nate for fighting and being strong even as a baby to fight in a moment that is worse than anything I have ever faced. I am thankful for the wonderful little man he is growing into.
