Today Nate went for his 4th round of botox. He was so good about the whole thing. Unfortunately he had a bit of a cold but they did it any way. Everything went well but he now has a fever and isn’t feeling well either. It was a long day and I am exhausted and I am going to cut this short and get some rest.
Evil time sucker.
Well I missed my first blog since starting doing them daily on November 1. I would love to say it was because I was busy doing something important but…. in reality I was playing Lego Starwars on Xbox. It is a lot of fun but it’s also a GIANT time sucker. I lost track of time and missed my deadline. Oh well it’s still the 20th somewhere in the world.
Supper with Santa.
Tonight we took the kids to see Santa. Nate and Hailie’s preschool had a Supper with Santa Christmas party. At the party the kids got to have their picture taken with Santa and have pizza and ice cream and make crafts. They had such a wonderful time.
Update.
So. Yesterday Rob had to go into work and as he was leaving he called me to tell me he was on his way home, he does this all the time. We just chit chat about things as he drive home (don’t worry he uses the hands free). Well last night as he was driving we were talking and suddenly he was cursing (a lot). I had to ask him what was wrong 3 times before he finally responded and told me that he had been in an accident. He was furious but he was okay. So I let him go so he could deal with the problem at hand. It turns out that the other driver was coming out of a Home Depot parking lot and he merged right into the side of Rob’s car.
Poor Rob this is the second time he has had another diver merge into the side of him. Knock on wood it doesn’t happen ever again.
The accident has been reported and the insurance company informed. Next we have to get an esstimate done to find out how bad the damage is.
Cleaning, crashing and kibitzing.
I was a VERY long day but the short of it. Cleaned thee kitchen. Had pizza with friends. Rob was in a small car accident, he’s okay but the car is pretty bad (it wasn’t his fault). But the night ended well with hang out with friends and playing games. I will update more tomorrow. For now I need sleep. Good night.
I got her head examined.
I took Aly to get her skull x-rays done today. I likely won’t here about them until the New Year but at least they’re done. I was amazed I was expecting a long wait for the x-rays because they were being done at the hospital but instead we had no wait at all. As soon as we got to the waiting room they called us before I could even sit down.Even better was that Aly was so well behaved. Se had all for x-rays done with out any crying or fussing at all. She was just so curious of her new surroundings that she didn’t fuss. The women In the x-ray area were all oohing and awing her. They were more interested in Aly then working.
We also stopped in at Labor and Delivery and visit some of the nurses that were there when Aly was born. My OB was working so we got to see her too. All in all a better trip then I had expected.
It’s just never simple.
Today I took Nate and Aly in to the pediatrician. I THOUGHT it was going to be a nice simple visit. Nate had to go and have papers filled in for Sick Kids to make sure he is healthy enough for his botox injections next week and Aly went to have her 6 month check up. Thats it. Easy? Right? Wrong.
Nate’s went fine. The doctor decided to even skip the blood work up and just to pull a copy of his blood tests a month ago. Nate was very happy not to have blood taken. So he was just weighed and measured. (He weighed just a little under 34lB or 15.4kg.) Then came Aly’s turn. She was weighed (15.4lB or 7 kg) and measured (63cm or almost 25in). Then the doctor gave her her vaccination shot and she didn’t even cry (Nate did for her). Had the appointment ended there it would have been great. But no. Instead he said that he was feeling uneasy by the odd shape of her head. It is kinda large and has a bump on either side that sort of stick out. He felt her soft spot and checked her head and decided that he wants her to go anhave an x-ray done of her skull and then to go and see a specialist of some sort. Ugh…
All in all it isn’t a big deal (at least not yet) but….Ugh… Really more specialists? Don’t we see enough for Nate. I don’t want to see more doctors and do more tests.I am tired of all of the doctors and tests. Ugh…
I know it could be worse and I am thankful it isn’t but I still need to whine about things sometimes. 🙂
It’s just never simple.
Thank you! I will treasure your kindness.
Below is a copy of all of the birthday wishes I had posted on my Facebook wall today (well some were last night). I have copied them here so that I have a record of them and am able to look back and feel the love I felt today. A lot of these people I know personally. Some I know through parent health groups linked to Nate’s problems although I’ve never met them and others I don’t really know at all I just have them on my friends list to play games with. I feel loved and honored that so many people, some who have never even met me would take the time to share even just a small part of this day with me.

The count down is on.
I always find that once December 13th gets here Christmas comes even faster. It feels like you blink and it is here. I am so not ready. I haven’t bought my turkey yet. Heck I haven’t even finished my gift shopping. I still have about 5 people left to buy for. Ugh it passes so quickly and I always feel so unprepared.
Cam has been asking when we are going to go see Santa. Just yet another thing on my list of things to do before Christmas. I asked him why he wanted to see Santa and he said “So I can tell him all about Christmas and he can share his candy with me and we can have a picture taken.” Nate just said “He funny man.”I asked Cam if he was excited about Christmas and he said “Ya I want to give people presents.” I love my kids I hope they always have that easy going spirit.
The master of munching.
Last night Aly graduated to “Real Food”. She will be 6 months old on Friday and has been eating rice and oatmeal cereal for over 2 months now (she hates the rice cereal not that I blame her). When ever anyone has food near her she will stare at them and if she gets the chance she will try to grab it and shove it in her mouth. She has almost succeeded more then once. So we decided to let her try”Real Food”. I spent a lot of time trying to decide what to start her with. Although it isn’t common practice I decided to skip the puree and let her try whole foods. I decided to start with veggies. Meats are harder to digest and fruit has a lot of sugar. Eventually I decided on broccoli. I choose it because it can be boiled to soften it, doesn’t have to strong a taste, has a lot of vitamins and also it is easy for little hands to hold. At first she didn’t seem to know what to make of it. She knew it went in her mouth but she was put off by the texture. But she kept at it and had a great time squishing it between her fingers. Tonight she ate it up. I was amazed at how much of it she ate. She is definitely one of the family. She is going to be a big eater just like her brothers.
