Life.

It's just how it is.

And it begins!

We don’t give the boys a lot of sugar so I didn’t want them to have a chocolate advent calendar. So I decided to make on for them and fill it with different treats and trinkets. I made it out of toilette paper tubes and construction paper. Todays treat was Christmas stickers that they used to decorate they’re advent calendar.

Thirty things I’ve learned this month blogging.

1. I may talk a lot but most of what I say isn’t interesting or important enough to want to write it down.

2. My spelling is atrocious. If it wasn’t for spell check no one would understand a thing I say.

3. Writing something thinking someone might one day read it makes you think a lot harder about how and what you write.

4. The only time I can settle into blog is after the kids are in bed. The rest of the day I am to distracted by other things.

5. If it isn’t a conscious decision to blog you will forget and even still you might forget.

6. I am able to enjoy writing. In high school I never imagined that I could enjoy writing anything.

7. Blogging is hard when I don’t get out of the house. I need inspiration from the world.

8. Blogging brings out my in poet and now you know it. (Sorry I had to.)

9. It’s cheaper then therapy but can be just as relieving.

10. I am a night blogger. I just don’t have the focus during the day.

11. Although great to have blogging from a phone is not easy.

12. The more exhausted I am the less I make sense. Even to myself.

13. It’s hard to be creative for your own purpose but not as hard to come up with ideas for others.

14. When stuck for something to write ask others for ideas it’s easier for them (see #13).

15. Weekend days are hard to blog on. There is just no energy left at the end of the day.

16. I have no idea how to add video to my blog.

17. I need to learn more about WordPress and how to work it.

18. There is way to much spam.

19. Sometimes spam comments are really nice even if they aren’t real. (I can pretend for a little.)

20. I need to learn about spam blockers and install a better one then what I have. 30+ a day is to many.

21. I don’t write about my kids as much as I thought I would but it’s still a lot.

22. Blogging is easier to do when you have a blogging “buddy” to help remind you and help to keep you motivated.

23. It is hard to blog with a baby in your lap.

24 . It is nearly impossible to blog with a toddler in the room.

25. It is flustering to blog with a child that is learning to read in the room. “Mommy what’s that word?” Every time you type a word.

26. Blogging during insane times is a nice feeling of control of something no matter how small or inconsequential.

27. You never know who will read your blog and it can be a nice surprise to know someone is interested.

28. Blogging doesn’t have to take a lot of time.

29. Short blogs seem more likely to actually be read.

30. Compiling a list like this one is hard. I can’t remember what I’ve written so I might have repeated things. If I did….oh well, sorry. 🙂

Two many and not enough.

This time of year I find gets more hectic with every passing year. There are just to many things to do. So this year I had a plan. I was going to have ALL of my gift shopping done by the end of November.  That way I would have time to wrap everything and I wouldn’t have to fight the crowds in December. Then everything fell apart. First Cam got sick one weekend and I lost it to taking care of him. Then Nate was ill for two weeks one of which we spent in the hospital so all of my shopping plans went out the window. Now hear I am with only 25 hours left to November and not a single person checked off of my Christmas shopping list. There is no way I will get everything done tomorrow. It just isn’t possible with the things I have to do tomorrow.

Ugh…

There just is not enough time. I miss when I was a child and Christmas seemed so far away. I could really use that time right now. I have a huge list of things to do and no time to do them. Little steps right. Okay first things first. One step at a time. I need to finally pick a cookie to make for the cookie swap I am running this Saturday and make 8 dozen cookies. Oh what was I thinking??? Oh Mmmm cookies. That’s right. I was thinking cookies. 🙂

Family and Christmas fun.

Recently Rob’s Nan moved closer to us and his parents. She use to live about a 20 minute drive away but now her new apartment is only about 4 minutes away.

So today Rob and I decided sort of last minute that we would take the boys to see the CP Holiday Train. So I called up Nan and invited her to come along with us. It’s a small thing but it’s something we never could/would have done last year. She was just to far to make the drive for small things like tonight but it is so great to be able to have her there.

The boys had a great time tonight and Aly loved it. She was squirming like nuts as if she wanted to get down and run to the train. She had a huge grin on her face. We were also joined by Grama. We all had a great time watching the train go by. It is becoming a bit of a family tradition. We have gone the last 4 years in a row but it was grrrreat to have more family there with us this year.

My bed time story.

I didn’t expect it to happen so soon but recently Cameron has started reading on his own. He does really well. He still needs help with some words and the stories aren’t exactly great novels. But I am definitely a very proud mother. Tonight Cameron read Nate and I a bed time story. It is just a beginner reader so it has very simple words and a lot of repetition but he did it. ALL BY HIMSELF! I am so proud! Here is a video of Cam reading Humpty Dumpty for his Grama Barb and Doc to see.

He’s getting bigger.

We recently were given a twin bed for Nate. It is a captain’s bed much like the one that Cam has. Last week before Nate was put in hospital we went to buy a new mattress for him but had to wait for it to come in. Well today Rob picked it up from the store. So tomorrow we will be assembling his new Big boy bed. He has been in a toddlers bed for almost two years now but I have been putting off moving him to a full sized bed for two reasons. !. I am cheap and didn’t want to spend the money on a bed so I was waiting for a good price (Free was great). 2. He tosses and turns a lot in his sleep so I figured the toddler bed was a shorter fall to the ground. But the time has come for him to “move up in the world”. My baby boy is no longer a baby.

Home sweet home.

Today Nate was dischared from the hospital. He will be going back as an outpatient to have another round of botox injections. He is doing a lot better and is happy to be home. Aly on the other hand is completely out of sorts. She is so tired but won’t go to sleep. Instead she is just xrying her little heart out. Also I came home to Cam being sick with a fever, poor guy.

I am so gladto be home to the insanity of life.

Where did it do?

It is amazing how much of a time suck hospitals can be. All day long it’s just hurry up and wait. Some where in all of that waiting I lost my day. You lose track of it in this place. I am always amazed. I was up at 6am and here I am at 11 pm with very little accomplished. Oh well there is always another day.

I am now going to cut this short as it is almost midnight and I need to leep before I fall down. So good night all.

Day 3.

image

A 6am wake up call started the day out with Nate having to have vitals checked and a washout followed by stripping down the bed to clean up a huge mess. The it was time to feed Aly followed by a visit from the medical team. Which took us to 7 am-ish and Nate and Aly both deciding to go back to sleep. 7:30 Nate’s breakfast was delivered. Today it was 2 apple juice and a red jell-o. That is sort of the feel for the rest of the day with a few extras added in. A friend Sharon is also here at Sick Kids with her daughter so she stopped by for a bit of a visit. In the afternoon David came by for a visit and to drop off a care package fro home. I also got out for an hour with Aly and we went ad bought some groceries. I am just to cheap tp buy food from the cafeteria all the time.

Nate is doing well. He is feeling a lot better and is even able to eat solid food again. His first meal after 48 hours with no eatig was PB&J. He was so excited

What is going on so far.

Nate was admited to Sick Kids yesterday and is being treated with IV antibiotics for entrocolitis (EC). They aren’t actually sure yet if he has it but they are playing things on the safe side because EC can be very dangerous if left untreated. So the treatment is a mix of 3 types of antibiotics multiple times through the day as well as iv fluids, bowel washouts and bowel rest. Nate HATES the bowel washouts but otherwise is doing well. When we arrived he was a bit dehydrated but the IV fluids have helped a lot. Unfortunately we will still be here for a few days.
