Life.

It's just how it is.

What a kid.

Tonight I sent Cam upstairs and told him to start getting ready for bed and not to wake Nate (he had gone to  bed early not feeling well) and I would be up in a few minutes. About 5 minutes or so later  I went up to find this…

He had put himself to bed and was out cold. How many 5 year olds will go to bed that willingly? I love my crazy kids.

Halloween 2012

Trying something new.

So this past weekend our dishwasher died on us and being that we BOTH hate washing dishes there was no way we were going to live with out one so we bought a new one. We had been planning to for a while but finally were forced into it. Anyway it was delivered this morning while Rob was at work. I got this great idea that I would remove the old one and install the new one that way Rob wouldn’t have to do it after work. Besides how hard could it be? Right? WRONG. I very quickly learned that I am NOT a plumber. I am sure that I could learn plumbing but is more tedious then I had expected. Every time I turned around there was some other little problem or a part I needed and didn’t have. It was so angering. A simple task became a HUGE ordeal. I am however proud to say that after wait to much time and a bit of cursing I did manage to get the new dishwasher installed, yeah me! It may not be much for some people but today I feel like I have accomplished something. And tomorrow I will use it to wash dishes. 😉

5 cakes, 4 partys, 3 homemade cakes, 2 long weeks and 1 exhausted Mommy!

So this year we decided to have a kid party for the boys at Chuck-E-Cheese. That was party #1. The boys had a great time unfortunately I didn’t have a camera so I only got a few pics on my phone and they didn’t turn out well but here’s one of the cupcakes cake.

Birthday (cup)cake at Chuck-E-Cheese.

Then on September 26th (Cam’s actual birthday) we went to Nana and Papa’s house for a mini party. Party #2. Cam picked out the cake at the store, he chose raspberry white chocolate cake.

The cake Cam picked out.

Here is a picture of Cam cutting the cake and another of him showing of his birthday boy shirt.

Party  #3 was on Nate’s birthday. Grama Barb, Doc and Auntie Rebekah all came over for supper and treated us to Swiss Chalet (Mmmm tasty, thank you). Then Nana and Papa joined us for dessert. I decided I would make something a little different then the standard cake for dessert to try and meet all the diet concerns. So after some thought I decided on a watermelon cake. Now I can’t take credit for it, I got the idea from someone on Pinterest. So I shaped and hollowed out a watermelon and filled it with fruit salad and decorated it with Coolwhip.

Watermelon Cake.

Finally party #4. We had a family dinner. Our tradition for the boys family birthday dinner is to have a cake each. So cake #4 was a rainbow cloud AstroBoy cake.

Nathanial's AstroBoy cake.

Last but not least. Cake #5. Cameron’s chocolate Spiderman cake.

Cam's cake.

It was very busy but a great time at all 4 parties but I am glad there is 12 months before we have to do it all again.

Just a dream or a message from my subconscious self?

Okay let me start before the dream. Yesterday I had three separate weird sort of comments that I guess put my mind in an awkward place. I had an older lady (in her 80’s I think) ask if I was expecting again. Then I had someone comment that my skin looked great, that my “face is shinning”. Last I stopped by my midwifes office to visit so she could see Aly and the secretary said “oh I didn’t know you were on the patient list again”. Ahhh… Okay I am NOT having any more kids but all of that put my mind in that place.

Skip a few hours ahead to the dream. I dreamt that I was pregnant and went to hospital to have the baby (a girl). When it was time to go home Rob came to pick me up with Cam and Nate. He had the car so Aly couldn’t come for lack of seating. As we were loading in to the car Rob noticed that the baby was dirty so the boys and I got in the car and he changed her on the trunk of the car as I dozed in the front seat. He finished and got in and started driving. Suddenly Nate was gone out of the back seat and instead my Mother-in-Law Sandy was there and she was screaming I looked back and out the rear window I could see the baby still on the trunk of the car. I started yelling at Rob to stop the car but he said he couldn’t because we were getting on the highway and there was to much traffic behind us. So I started climbing into the back seat onto Sandy’s lap and trying to climb out the window to get the baby. That’s when I woke up. It was strange, no one in the dream had aged compared to real life and the weather was nice, it could have been tomorrow.

Some people believe that dreams have meaning. That it is our brains trying to tell us something or trying to process what is going on in our lives. So what does this dream mean then? Any thoughts? Ideas? I would love to hear them even if only for fun. 🙂 If you have a comment please leave it in the comment section. Thanks.

Good News Update!

I haven’t updated for a while because I was afraid to jinx things but here goes.

In June we started timed toilet sits. Then at the end of August Nate saw his surgeon and we discussed Nate’s belly being bloated daily and the test results from his blood work, x-ray and upper Gi. His blood work was good, his x-ray showed some distended bowel and a lot of gas and the upper showed he has reflux and nothing else. The surgeon suggested that it might be a very mild ongoing case of entro or something along those lines so he uped Nate’s flagyl and said we should see if that helped. That was 5 days before Nate started Junior Kindergarten. After about a week on the new dose Nate’s belly was a LOT less bloated, the vomiting lessened and he was pooping more regularily.

The second week of school his teacher aproached me and said that he had had zero bowel accidents and that she wanted Nate to try underware and that she would deal with any accidents. I was shoked. He had only been pooping well for 2 weeks. So the next day Nate wore underware for the first time. He was so excited. He was running around the house wearing nothing but underware and screaming with excitment “Underware!’ I think it was the happiest I’ve ever seen him.

We have continued toilet sits and so has the teacher and I am excited to say with the help of being told to go and poop Nate has been in underware for 2 1/2 weeks.

NATE IS TOILET TRAINED! (Sort of.) I sometimes doubted wether this day would ever come.

He is still on the flagyl and it looks like he will be for a long time to come but things are a lot better then they were. I just wanted to share the good news.

The Never Ending Renovation.

For the last 2 months we have been doing some reno’s around the house. Dead trees removed from the backyard, the roof tiled and new eves-trough, some electrical work and a few other things. Ugh.. Reno’s are a nightmare, as I am sure they always are. We are on a timeline to do the reno’s to appease our mortgage company. I have been trying for months now to get all of this done and every time I feel like things are under control things fall apart. We are coming down to the wire and still I can’t tie up all the loose ends. I can’t wait to be finished with all of this.
