Life.

It's just how it is.

New friends.

Today I met a new mom at the play center that I take the kids to. Well…actually I met her a while back but we had only really shared a few words here and there. Today however we got to chatting and Nate and her son started playing and well a lot of time past. Finally it was time for all of us to leave when we discovered that we live about two blocks apart so we decided to walk together. We got to the point where our path split and stopped. We stood enjoying the sunshine and talking for about half an hour while the boys slept in the strollers and the babies (she has a 7 week old) slept on our chests in their carriers.

It is so wonderful to meet new moms and to have other adults to talk to.

Bragging.

I am amazingly blessed to have 3 wonderful children. They are great kids (although I will deny it if you ask me on a school day morning). So I just wanted to brag a little.

Cam is an amazingly smart child he is 4 and is learning to read and write. He is also very good at math (adding and subtraction). He is very thoughtful and loves helping others and is quick to smile.

Nate is toilet training which for him is an extra big challenge. He is also doing great with his speach and works very hard at it. He is loving and funny boy who loves to entertain and make people smile.

Aly although young is very out going. She recently started crawling and now she seems unstoppable. She loves exploring. She is a very happy baby.

I count myself blessed to have such wonderful children. I am amazed at how quickly they are growing up right in front of me.

I love you kids!

A thought to ponder.

Tonight I watched a Canadian film called One Week. It posses the question what would you do? The funny thing is before the movie was even over and I thought about it consciously  I found myself searching the web and trying to find info on things I want to do in life before it is to late, places I want to go. At about half way into the movie I realized that my subconscious had taken over and was all ready pondering that question. So WHAT do I want to do when it comes down to the line. I want to travel. I don’t have a destination set in stone. What I do have is a want to see at least a small part of this world through a car window. I want to take my children on road trips and see just a fraction of this world so that I can help them to understand how large it really is. I want to pick a direction and just throw planning to the wind and just drive and if something catches our interest THAT is where I want to go. I want to see what can be found when you aren’t looking because you are lost.

It wasn’t an amazing movie. There were no bells or whistles. It did however make me think and that is an amazing gift.

So. My question for you is…

Sushi for 2.

Tonight I surprised Rob with dinner out just the two of us as belated anniversary present. Auntie Chantel  baby sat the kids so we could go out and have a nice night out. It was so nice. We went for Sushi at Go Believe Sushi. It was so weird being out with NONE of the kids. I think we will have to do it again before our next anniversary.

Mmmm....

Sign of changes.

This morning Nate was so excited that there was snow again. The whole walk to Cam’s school he was talking about the snow so we played out side for a while but it wasn’t enough time for him, so after Cam came home from school we played out side for a little longer. I swear if he had the choice he would have stayed outside till the sun went down.

While the boys were playing in the snow I noticed something peeking through. Through the snow and dead leaves I could see the tips of something growing. I am not sure what it is but then again I don’t know what most of the plants are in my garden. However I do know what means. Spring is almost here. In just a few shorts weeks the air will start to warm and we will cast off these horrible winter coats and move to a much freer revitalized time. I love spring but even more I LOVE the changing of the seasons.

Happy Leap Day!

One year ago Nate played with food coloring and well….

Nate + Food Coloring = Big Mess

…This is the mess I found. So this year I thought it should be my turn to play with some. Although I didn’t make AS Big a mess.Today at Cam’s school it was anti-bullying day and kids were asked to wear pink to show your support against bullying. Cam had said he wanted to wear pink. I realized as I was putting him to bed last night that I had forgotten to go an buy him something pink to wear. So  I had a great idea. I would take a white t-shirt…

Plain White Shirt

…and mix it with beet juice. I figured every time I have spilled beet juice on my clothes it had stained. We had just so happened to have had beets with dinner so we had beet juice left over. However beet juice didn’t work as well as I had hoped. Instead of being pink it just looked dingy.

Attempt #1 with Beet Juice.

However the beet juice did dye part of my arm.

Beet Juice works better on Skin.

So I decided to try again using red food coloring. At first I thought it had worked a lot better. It seemed a lot brighter.

Attempt #2 with Food Coloring.

It had also done a better job of dying my skin.

Food coloring.

After finally being washed clean off all of the excess dye and dried this was the out come.

The Final Product.

Cam was proud to wear his pink t-shirt to school even if he doesn’t fully understand what bullying is.

Today was also Rare Disease Day

…and Rob and My 3rd anniversary. This past Sunday we were treated to lunch in Celebration so tonight being a week night we couldn’t do much so we went to Burger King with the kids and D8vid for Whopper Wednesday. It seemed fitting though. The day we were married (February 29, 200) we went after our “wedding” to dinner at McDonald’s so this Anniversary we had Burger King instead. It was a nice evening out and they have a little play area so we were able to send the boys off to play and have a little break.

Battle of the Brothers!

Earlier this afternoon the boys were sent to their room for misbehaving. They were suppose to have quiet reading time on their individual beds, but for some reason Nate decided he would go over to Cam’s bed and steal his blankets off of it while Cam was under them. Of course this made Cam REALLY mad and a fight ensued. At least this is the story the boys told me after. I joined the event when I heard Nate screaming in pain for his brother to stop. I went up stairs to find Cam pinning Nate to the bed with his full body weight with Nate scream “No Cam, Stop!”. I broke up the fight to find out that Cam had bitten Nate (which he lied about when I asked him but there were teeth marks to prove it) and he had scratched up Nate’s face. The poor kid looks like he was in a cat fight.

Nate's battle scars.

This is a picture Rob took of Nate a few  hours after the fight and posted to his blog. (I stole it from his blog.) You can see some of the scratches. The boys have always rough housed but I hate that they are becoming this violent with each other. I know boys will be boys but this I can not and will not accept. Cameron has become more aggressive since starting school and I must find away to put an end to it. I am just not sure how to do it. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Oh. P.S. Nate’s okay. I think it looks worse then it feels. And he did get off scot free Cam got in trouble for hurting him but he also got in trouble for being up on Cam’s bed pulling it apart.

Forward >>

Just a little video I wanted to share of Aly crawling forward with her belly off of the floor. This is the farthest I’ve seen her go yet. She may be slow but she does it. She is trying so hard to crawl and to keep up with her big brothers.
