Life.

It's just how it is.

Overwhelmed by the underwhelming.

I have recently in all of my grand wisdom (insert snicker) come to realize that I am easily overwhelmed by things that don’t really mean a lot and should be easily over come. I will give you an example. I come home to a mess and I see that my house is a complete disaster. Rob sees that toys need picked up some dishes washed and some laundry folded and put upstairs. He isn’t worried and knows it will get cleaned. I on the other hand get caught up in ever detail that it starts to seem like an impossible task. I often see a “big picture” with an endless number of details. And that is when I get over whelmed and want to quit.

So I have decided that this is something I need to work on. I need to learn to asses things better brake them down in to components and not get caught up in the fine details.

The big problem is how to go about this change. It isn’t as easy as it may sounds.

Hmmm…..I think planing and praying for help are in my best interest.

NaBloPoMo?!?!?!

I discovered from a post on a friends blog today that she read on a blog by one of her friends that today is National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo). So the challenge is to post a new blog every day for one month. I have decided to take on this challenge and see if I can achieve it. I know it won’t be as easy as it sounds but I am going to try so this is my official post for today November first and what is to (hopefully) be the first of 30 posts.

Let the challenge begin!

Off to a great start to the school year?!?!?

This past week Cameron started big boy school (Junior Kindergarten).  He will be attending 5 days a week full days, but for the first week he only went Wednesday and Friday as an introduction. Everything went okay. He didn’t want to go into class in the mornings and didn’t want to come home at night. He has a real independent streak and likes to do things in his own time which of course is not the way school works. But all and all he liked it.

All seemed good until this morning when Cam woke up with a 102 fever. After only two day of school he has already brought home his first illness. Lucky us, but on the up side he must be really good at doing what kids do to already be bringing home a sickness. I just hope he is just as good at all of the other things kids are suppose to do at school.

Update on well….everyone.

Nate is doing well after passing the plum pit 2 weeks ago. Things seem to be evening out but he is a little backed up but we are giving his boy time to try to deal with it but may be upping the laxatives again soon. All in all though he is doing well and crazy active. He starts preschool in 3 weeks and I can’t wait 2 precious hours a week to have time without him. His teachers already know all about his issues and is fine with them and ready to deal with all that is Nate. (She was Cam’s teacher last year so we talked about Nate’s problems.)

Aly has been on reflux meds for a few weeks now and they are working well. It hasn’t gotten rid of all the discomfort and puking but has made it bearable for both of us. Oh and she sleeps through the night now. Yeah. On the other side of things I know it is normal for BF babies to only go 1 a week even as little as 1 every 10 days but…. She goes 9 days and then starts projectile vomiting and then finally poops and the vomiting stops. When she poops it is normal looking but the is a crazy amount and it burst out of the diaper in every direction. I KNOW this can be normal but after Nate it is wearing on my nerves. I wish I could take a vacation from poop for just one day. Just step away and shut my mind off. I just keep worrying that something is going to happen. But I guess if I didn’t worry I wouldn’t be me. 🙂

And finally Cam is great.I feel bad sometimes. He is my healthy one and I sometimes almost forget about him. We were having real troubles toilette training him and then when Aly was born he decided to do it him self. I am so proud. Almost over night he was day and night trained. He is such a big boy, it goes by so fast. He is my oldest and will be starting school this year.

Oh and I have a brand new baby Niece. Yeah. She is almost 3 weeks old. A little BFF for Aly.

Aly age 8 weeks. Mia age 1 day.

BFF's to be. 🙂

Potty party!

I have been struggling for a while now to get Cameron to toilet train. I have tried everything can think of. I have read countless numbers of books and articles and tried every piece of advice I have been given but nothing worked and with another child on the way I was dreading the idea of having 3 kids in diapers.

Then one morning when Aly was about 3 weeks old Cameron got out of bed and announced to me that he wasn’t wearing diapers any more, that they are for the baby. I told him he couldn’t have underwear if he was going to pee in them and he said he wouldn’t. That day he got till around 5pm and then had an accident. A good start for his first day. Over the next few weeks we had some good days and some bad ones and some really bad ones. Finally on one really bad day I got mad and put a diaper back on him. I was so tired I just couldn’t deal with the mess anymore. He cried and was upset and yelled that he wasn’t a baby and didn’t need diapers. I told him he  had to show me by keeping his diaper dry and if he could do the then I would give him his underwear back. That was about 2 weeks ago and I am proud to announce that he has only had one accident in that entire time and stays dry even at night.

Cameron is now toilet trained!

Yay!!!

It’s the pits!

So on Thursday I went to the farmers market and while walking around I gave the boys plums to eat (they love them). After a couple of minutes I asked them for the pits and Cam gave me his and Nate just told me “Gone”. I figured he had droped it on the ground. Friday we had clinic visit down town and everything seemed great. We left and went to eat some lunch before heading home. I gave Nate another plum and then turned away to get my lunch. When I turned back the plum was gone, pit and all.  searched for it but couldn’t find it. I thought about going back to see if I could tell the surgeon but decided I would just wait and see what happened instead of seeming paranoid and find nothing. So home we went. No sooner did we walk in my mother in-laws house to pick up Cam(Nate’s brother) then Nate starts bursting at both ends. In about 30 minutes Nate over filled 2 diabers and threw up 3 times (large amounts). Being me and nowing something was wrong I inspected what had come out and found one plum pit had come up and one had gone down. I am amazed. I can’t believe he passed a plum pit with absolutely no tears. Heck he didn’t even seem to notice he had pooped nevermind the pit.

Unfortunately his BMs have been slow since Friday and he isn’t emptying all the way. I guess we just wait to see if it gets better or not. Until then we are doing what we can to keep things moving.Oh and I have banned him from any food with the pits/seeds still in.

Introducing Alexandria Dorothea!

Alexandria Dorothea

Born June 16th, 2011

On June 13th I went to see the midwife. I was 39 weeks 4 days based on my original due date and was very sore and tired. I had been having contractions on and off for over a week. I asked the midwife if there was anything that I could try to get labor started. She did a cervical check and said I was 3cm dilated and about 60% effaced. She said she good do a strech and sweep and that it might get things going. On June 15th I went to see my obstetrician (do to a history of problems I am under shared care). She did a cervical check and said I was 4cm and 75%. She decided to do another sweep. That was at about 3:30pm. Well I guess it worked because by 6:30 I was having contractions about every 7 minutes. They continued to get stronger and by 9:30 they were painful and every 4-5 minutes. So we packed up the boys and dropped them at Nana and Papa’s and headed to the hospital. When he y checked I was 5cm and fully effaced (about 10:30pm). So things were moving but slowly. They offered to break my water but I wasn’t sure about that because it speeds things up A LOT and the pain comes a lot faster. At a little after midnight with no real progress I got tired of waiting and decided to have my water broken. The doctor came in around 2:30am and broke my water.  At 4:46 am Alexandria Dorothea came into this world with the help of my wonderful midwives!

She was born weighing 7lB 9oz and 54cm long. She is doing great. She has a little bit of jaundice but otherwise is well. Also she is well loved and protected by her proud older brothers Cameron and Nathanial. Like any little girl at 4 days old she is well under way to be daddy’s little girl.

Stress or symptoms?

So on Monday I went to my midwife appointment and she told me my blood pressure was up and that she wanted me to go to the hospital for some monitoring and testing. So I went. All my blood and urine tests came back fine but my pressure was still up. It wasn’t to high so the doctor sent me home and told me to come back on Thursday I went back Thursday and my pressure was down a little so no concerns now they will just continue to monitor it. I just can’t help thinking this could just be nothing but a little stress but I worry that it could be something more. I try not to worry but this hole thing is stressing me out. It is a no win cycle. Grrr….

Update on Nate.

I haven’t posted in a while because I have been afraid to jinx things but well here goes.

Nate is doing great. Since his last botox we had a lot of problems and pain and things got really bad. We ended up starting him on Flagyl, mineral oil and miralax. After a little while we took him off of the miralax because it just caused him really bad diarrhea. Since then things have gone great. He gets mineral oil in the morning and at night and has stopped having pain when he poops. He has even had a couple of occasions where he seems to feel that had needs to poop and has used the potty.

We also had testing done and he came back negative for celiacs,. His levels (iron, vitamins, etc.) are all great and his cromasonal screening came back clear. The only not so great result is that genetics was unable to find a cause for his HD in their testing but I guess that’s just how it is sometimes.

I am just so excited he is able to poop with out pain and we haven’t had to do an enema in a few weeks. Even his speech is improving and he is growing like crazy. We made it 3 whole days straight with out once hearing him complain about his stomache hurting.

The problems aren’t fixed but at least for the time being we get a break and he gets to be a healthy(-ish) and happy 2 year old.

Comunication progress.

For the last few weeks Nate has been working very hard on his speech and has learned some new words. He is also learning to visually recognize letters. Amongst his new words are duck and hello.

Cam is doing well to he has almost learned to say the entire alphabet and can recognize a lot of letters visually. He is also learning what letter words begin with. For example if you asked him “what words begin with c?” He might tell you “cat and Cameron and candy”.

As for the newest Jeffrey soon to be she keeps telling me she is squished with a good old kick to the kidneys. Just 86 more days until she is suppose to make her way into the world.
